why do my breaks suck......1991 runner v6 4wd....only on 32's.......power steering leaks from drivers side....is there a rebuilt thread on that unit....or does a lack of power steering pose a problem on front breaks????? also power is not great....can a muffler suck up mud and clog it up?????? do headers get old????

Depends on what model engine you have in your ride.

On the 3.0 in my '94, the PS and Anti-Lock system are interconnected with one relying on the other for additional pressure from vacuum generation.

My PS pump is on the passenger's side and and lines from the PS and Brake Master are tied into a distribution body on the passenger side frame rail and yes, there is a "rebuild kit" that you can pick up at most auto parts retailers for pretty cheap..., like $30-$40.

your muffler can't really "suck" anything up as all it does is blow but yes it is very possible that you have caked your tail pipe with mud

the flow of air seems low.....the reason i asked about the muffler is cause i was knee deep in mud and shut the truck off to dig out.....after starting a lot of white smoke till the mud and water finished spitting out

very real possibilty...get something semi stiff and try and feed it through your piping up to the muffler (most likely won't get through the muffler unless its hollow) if it stops before then you probably have crap inthere.

That would be the power steering box, the thing that the steering wheel connects to. Yes there is a rebuild kit for it, or you can get a replacement unit, http://www.marlincrawler.com/ has a pretty good price on used and rebuilt boxes. Clean it up and try to identify where the leak is from. There is an adjusting nut and sealing washer on top that can leak if it loosens up. Also, if you are running power steering fluid (instead of the recommended Automatic Transmission Fluid) that can be the cause of the leak as well. Toyota power steering works best w/ ATF.

I think my stock p/s had a sticker right on the reservoir bottle that said "ATF Only":
