Break Line Leak?
So the other day I took a 80 mile trip through the western Massacusetts hills to school and parked my truck in my driveway. No problems. My brother goes to the store this morning, 2 days later and the breaks don't work. He pulls in and I see that fluid is spitting out near the gas tank, right side on 87.
I go check it out and there is a leak from where the soft hose meets the 2 metal steel lines. How is this fixed? If the thing that joins them is cracked is that easy to replace? Anyone ever had this problem before? I'll probably be working it next weekend (Oct 16) so if i could figure out how to do it and what parts to get before than it would be sick.
Thanks A Lot...Go Red Sox!!!!!

Is the hose cracked or is it the splitter? I would sugest spraying all fittings with liquid wrench or WD right now and reapeat several times before you dive into it or you are almost certain to strip out thoes 8mm fittings (the other guys are sure to back me on that one). As long as you can get the stuff appart, it should be an easy fix, although bleeding the breaks after you are done can be very time consuming.

I checked again and there are 2 steel tubes that run along the whole side and dont split at all I don't think. I dont know if they are 1 or many pieces but I believe they are just 1. It looks somewhat of an easy fix except for the fact that they run under the gas tank and don't screw in until the front breaks split with them.
I agree that the 8mm bolts will be troublesome but I think the clamps that hold down the tubes along the frame may be worse. When I tried to loosten mine for the front sway bar they cracked right off. Anyone have advise on this?
I am pretty sure on it just being the tubing cracked so does anyone know the parts numbers to those tubes? If I do one I will do both.
Thanks,
Alex

They aren't the ones that screw into the level sensing valve, are they? Sure its not the valve or hose?
Make sure you know what is leaking before spending the bux.
