Video added - Brake fluid reservoir area squeak - 2001 4Runner when cold
Hey from DC,
Searches on YT didn't find all the below symptoms, so please excuse the new thread. I'm having an ongoing squeak from my brake fluid reservoir area on my 2001 4Runner SR5, 155K miles with the Tundra brake upgrade. I have a video with audio of it and will try to attach it. I know it is brake related as I can feel a buffet in the brake pedal when the squeak takes place and it takes place after the pump assisting the ABS runs. (And I found this after I spent two hours changing the damn belts...) Brakes have also periodically had a vibration in the brake pedal when applying brakes.
It only happens when it is cold (i.e. under 40 degrees F) and I don't notice it after the car warms up for 10-15 mins. Not sure if it is related, but my check engine, VSC trac and VSC off lights have been on for about 30 days. I tried to reset the lights via the negative battery terminal removal/reconnect, which lasted about 1 hour and the three were on again.
I connected a code reader at Auto Zone today at got P0420 as the only code. Research on this code found the definition:
Catalyst efficiency low bank 1
Explanation
The oxygen sensors monitor the Catalytic Converters ability to store oxygen.
Probable Cause
Catalytic Converter defective (failure possibly due to #2, 3 or 4)
Engine Misfire or running condition
Large Vacuum leak
Engine oil leakage into exhaust-valve guide seals, piston rings.
I love this truck and would rather not have to tell my wife it's time for a new rig as she loves it too and also carries a gun (the downside of a couple both being 'on the job').
I'm thinking my pump for the ABS is going bad and/or the master cylinder, but would love some guidance from you wise ones.
DS
