Bought a '97 SR5

A few weeks ago I bought a '97 SR5 from my neighbor (it was headed for the trade in lot when I grabbed it). Over the past couple of weeks my friend Andreas (forum member AOWrs - or something like that) helped me clean it up a bit and make in inspection worthy.

So far we: pulled the running boards, pulled the plastic wind deflectors from the windows, hood and sunroof, pulled the wood trim from the dash, pulled the gold badges, added new HD radio CD head unit and speakers (sub coming this week), Tundra antenna mod, a new 800CCA Interstate battery, new horns, Hella 700FFs, new shocks & struts, Brembo rotors, new OEM pads, fluid changes and lube, bead blasted and repainted the wheel center caps tightened and adjusted a hell of a lot of nuts, bolts and screws. Wow, did I forget anything?...

I got it inspected and legal Thursday and four guys working at the inspection station individually asked me how much I got the truck for and said that they really liked it!

So, since it doesn't exist without pictures, here it is two days later:

uhm...you should probably get all that snow on there perty quick, snow is A LOT heavier than one would think, i can tell by how low your runner is sitting that it's VERY HEAVY.

i'd get it off there pretty quick LOL

Thanks Camo, I actually just spent over two hours cleaning somewhere around 30" of snow off of our three cars (damn, maybe I should have left those running boards on for one more week). It took forever because I needed to make a walkway around each car.

That was a ton of weight, probably more. I couldn't even get my finger in between the top of the wheel and the wheel well on the Mercedes and it is stock.

Nice! We received a similar helping of snow last year (Seattle area). Looks like you guys are getting it now. Today I was detailed my 4R in jeans and t-shirt.

Can't wait to see your 4R once you get it cleared off.

Wow, I wonder if anyone's roof ever caved in from all that weight from the snow. It does look pretty heavy!

I dont think it could. I mean, you see flipped 4runners and their roofs hold up pretty good considering how heavy the vehicle is. it would take a ton of weight, I weigh 185 and have actually slept on my roof once. Roof didnt even budge

Now get those damn running boards out of my garage!!

(Anyone need a nice set of SR5 running boards before they visit the dump? Free, local pickup only....)

Robb - I've enjoyed assisting in the transformation of your Beater. What's next?

Really, someone take those running boards. They are nice as running boards go. As for what's next... after we stabilize the driving lights and put in the subwoofer, you tell me and we'll try it out.

They've been on there for weeks - two calls and no shows. Standard Craigslist behavior.....

Congrats! And with the help of veteran member aowRs you'll have some help with the mods for it. You'll definitely want to invest in the rear diff breather mod if the rear axle seals haven't blown yet. Then the ISR, Deckplate mod, etc... Yep you'll be broke in no time.

Finally!

I'm also happy to report that some low-life came by late last night and helped themselves to your running boards.
