Bought a 4runner! !!!
I bought a 99 limited 4x4 for my better half to drive. I dont know what I was thinking when I bought her the jeep grand cherokee a few months ago. What a piece of crap. We are now a 2 taco family!! My 98 tacoma and the runner.

t-tom,
congrats on the purchase. all 99's suffer from the infamous gas guage needle problem. TSB-EL010. search on the forum, find it, and then hopefully the dealer may fix it for free.

I think we will be ok with it. The dealer I bought it from is a toyota dealer and the guy that traded it in was the service manager there! It has 79000 miles on it and it looks and drives just like new.

Congrats on the Runner. Now you are a 2 Toyota family not a 2 Taco family. Unless, that is you DO have 2 Tacos. Again enjoy the Runner and hide your wallet.

Anyway, congrats on the purchase. You'll be happy with it I'm sure. BTW, 99 is the best year! hahha. (i'm not biased i promise!)

try www.alldata.com for the tsb. You should be able to search by vehicle year, make, model, etc.

There are a couple of parts to this TSB. Do a search again 'tsb el010' and you see lots of stuff, including a link to phorunner.com which has a copy of TSB. Look at your VIN, and see what needs to be done.
If you have to do the tank sending unit part, you don't need a new piping assembly, your old one works just fine, and will save you $90 or so. You will need the rubber gasket and sending unit.
Also, once you replace the gauge circuit board, you must perform TSB EL010-99, Fuel gauge calibration procedure.
tsb el010-99 fuel gauge calibration:
ignition off
press & hold trip button
ignition on
release trip & press 3 more time, holding down for 5 seconds on 3rd time
buzzer sounds for 1 second
release trip
press & hold for 5 seconds
buzzer sounds.
done
