I had a blow out going 75mph headed north on I-35 just north of Austin in Jarrell. Either way, I had a reason to get some new meat! 285/75 BFG T/A KO on LC wheels. And it's a reason to go for a new front bumper. Suggestions? ARB, Shrockworks, any others?

Anyone want to guess how much the estimate was from Allstate?

Yikes! It didn't damage your beautiful LC rims did it? Those might be my favorite rims period. How much tread was left and how old were they?

I would guess that will be $1500 or so. Insurance check maybe around 1k, actual cost more like 1500-2k.

BTW, Glad you didn't wreck it or anything. How bad was it to control and come to a stop? I fortunately haven't faced this before.

o no worries it will buff out

but get the insurance money and then decide what you want to spend it on just remember a winch bumper will not have to b painted so it could deff b cheaper to go that route

Well, the estimate was just south of $3k. I was completely floored at that amount. There is a vibration now, even with the new tires, and my 4x4 light keeps flashing at me and has since the tire blew.

When the tire blew, the truck pulled hard to the left towards the barrier. Luckily, no one was on the right side of me and I was able to bail out towards the ditch/access road. An off duty police officer was behind/near me when the tire gave and helped tow me across the ditch to the access road. He complemented me on the save I made. I'm happy nothing else went wrong because so much more could of happened.

It looks like you can bend the bumper back into place with some unique setup of tools.

I'm going to get a new front bumper. No reason to put a new one on when I'll be getting the insurance check plus my tax return. Now I've got a small vibration that is driving me nuts. I took it to an national tire chain that I've done business with before, they wouldn't do an alignment. What they said is that my tie rod ends were too lose, as well as my saw bar end links. Wanted to charge me $900. I hate it how they play "you're stupid and know nothing, but I do." Also he told me the vibration is from the tires and that since they are that large (285/75) they would always have that wobble. WHAT? I'm pretty sure that was a load of BS and he heard some words from me. Yet, I know that the worn out tie rod ends and saw bar links prob have something to do with it but they aren't going to charge me $96/hr on labor. I can do that myself. Any one else have any opinions on the wobble problems? Its harmonic and increases with speed then disappears at 70ish mph.

Ya know what I had a tire place tell me a similar thing with my 33's and mud tires. They basically said balancing them are pointless. Stupid kids. lol. Tell them next time your in there if you even go back, that tractor trailer tires are biger then what you got and get balanced quite frequently. Also Hummer tires (H2's for example) are bigger then what you got on there (35's IIRC) and those ones come factory balanced. That should shut the guys up at the place pretty quick.

when the tire blew it most likely completely destroyed ur tie rod ends so just replace them bc they are fairly cheap and then drive it even though its not aligned for a bit and see it it disappears also check to make sure that the wheel bearing on that side isnt bad now bc that could cause it as well

Yep, that is also possible i just happen to have a spare set of brand new inner tie rod ends in my garage i never used (long story, ordered them twice). If you want those i would let them go for cheap.

Texas_Ace he wouldnt need the inner tie rods he would need the outer ones bc those are the ones that have the ball joints in them the inner ones connect directly to the steering rack

Correct, i always like to replace it all together though so i only have to get an alignment once.
