Body lift with no running boards? Bad or good lookin'?

I was wondering if anybody has a 2nd gen 4runner with a body lift on it and has taken off the running boards. I really want to take them off, but I don't know if it will look bad with the body lifted clearly off the frame. (rather than seeing under the truck more, you would just see the side of the frame and whatever else comes into view when the boards are gone. Also, do you guys have any tips or tricks to taking those suckers off? I hear the bolts are on there pretty darn tight. Any Pics from the side would be awesome. Thanks

I only have a 2" BL and it looks no different than before where the running boards WERE. The place you can really see the frame is in the rear wheel wells you can see clean across to the other side. That is an easy fix though with some gap gaurds that several companies make or you can fab them yourself.

Ya, the boards are el lamo! I still have mine on though! <gasp>

They'll be off soon enough. Can't afford sliders yet. A few of my passengers are short. They need the help.

I JUST finished putting a 3" BL on my truck and it had came with running boards; between me and my buddy we decided the truck looked quite a bit higher without the runners. I'd take em off!

well since I left for college I don't have any of my tools anymore =( So i'm gonna have to use my girlfriends dads stuff I guess. But does anybody have a good method to use with regards to taking off those pesky bolts? I guess theres somewhere around 6 or 8 of them that are used to mount the boards to the frame.

The trick I used to remove my running boards were to drag them over some rocks. Came off pretty quickly although they were totally thrashed afterward!

ill post some pics soon. but wow, my runner looks like it just got like a 4" lift! I also took off the front skid plate (it was busted pretty bad from my last outing..but im getting a new one soon) so you can see the thick stabilizer i put on a few months ago.taking off the boards made my truck look alot meaner haha. also, it provided alot of extra clearance with both the front and rear tires...good investment of time IMO
