I put my 4crawler 1" on this evening minus the 9th and 10th body mounts as i ran out of light, and the ride is different, it feels like bumps resonate through the body now. is that normal? i dont know if i like it. the doors also dont close as nicely as they did before and the steering feels different. the interior also rattles quite a bit more. i had one rattle in the back, and now i have like 10. i did 1 side at a time like everyone recommends...

are all of these results typical? I am going to re-torq the bolts all down tomorrow, it is definately alot taller now. not sure if im digging the way it is now.

any input on if this is normal?

I think I felt a little difference as well, but, maybe not as bad as you are feeling?

After I put on my body lift I remember the steering felt a bit off at first. But after a day or two, it felt back to "normal".

I general body lifts suck. i have one and its fine for me, but if you really expect your truck to feel solid, and secure, a body lift is not for you. I on the other hand have always had beatup trucks, bad alignments, crooked steering wheels etc etc....just part of my life. But if your used to quiet, smooth riding, clean, undented suv driving lifestyle, then a body lift is not for you. But like Calrockx said, after a day or two I get used to just about anything...bent tie-rods, unbalanced tires, horrible squeaks or rattles....it all feels and sounds normal once I "tune" it out of my head, or just turn the radio up

I am considering a body lift, and if this is a common thing then i know im not interested in it. I don't understand why there shouldn't be a way to rid most of those noises.

I have no idea what hte 9 and 10th body mounts are. Do those hold the body to the frame? If so could that be causing the noise and doors not closing all the way? A slight bend in the body?

Just guesses for me - let me know if im way off

I installed my 2" 4crawler a month ago, the steering did feel funny for the first couple days, mind you i had the steering extension... not sure if you do. but i havnt really experienced anything too out of the ordinary.

Remember the fact that if you try to feel something different, you almost always will (its actually called the Hawthorne Effect). Honestly, I bet half those things were there pre-lift.

If you plan on doing any more mods, expect similar results. Things change, then you get used to them.

When I said the steering felt different after the BL, it was just that that after a turn the wheel didn't spin back to straight as easily or as much as before. That was the percieved notion. I remember it being prety noticible. Anyway, like I said, after a while it seemed to return to the way it was.

A body lift shouldn't produce any extra rattles. Mine didn't. Those I know haven't had such side effects, these in the 1-2" range.

finish installing all your body mounts and see how it feels... that could possibly be the difference.

im going to re torq the mounts tomorrow and get some pics.
it almost makes my 295's look small....

KyleT this thread kinda helped me decide wether to get a 2 inch or not. I think im gonna wait it out for a BL. I dont think I can stand my truck feeling any different then it does from stock.

just to make things more complicated (sorry) on my 98 4Runner I thought the ride was better than before the body lift. I'd wait to you get everything installed. I'm assuming you did the steering extension?

the key for a real smooth ride is to make your spacers out of pencil erasers. that way you still have lift but also lots of cushion and if you ever find yourself without an eraser on the trail, just take a piece of your body lift and youre set.

Are the spacer pieces made of Delrin or polyurethane? If Delrin, is the end result a solid mount between the frame and the body? Or do you still retain some sort of factory rubber cushion?

yeah the rubber stock bushings are there. the pucks go between them and the body.

I'm glad you posted this. I was thinking about installing one myself... With a body lift doesn't it give you more approach clearance? Thats why I would want to install it.
