Block casting #s on 22R (do make sure I have a late 22R before I buy parts)

Hey is there any way to be SURE my 22R is a "late block" style motor? The build date is 5/85 so I want to be SURE it doesn't have a "last of the line" high block 22R before I order parts. I decoded the VIN, it didn't help. What block casting #s should I look for and where are they on the block?

I don't know the answer to the question, but you're almost on page two, so....

BUMP!

Give engnbldr an email.
He can give you the height dimention of both.
99% positive you have a lazer block though.
Stranger things have happened though.
Also, the intake ports on the head are the squared shape, not the round (pre-85 style).
While you can interchange the heads, it's not likely that would happen unless the pistons were changed as well.
just FYI, the motor I got from an 85 celica (22re) is the lazer block style.
