Question Biggest Stock Tires

What are the biggest tires I can put on the stock 16inches? I was thinking about 265/75/16 or can I go wider? or taller?

Guys, he's talking wheels, not lift.

Many people are running 285/75's. I was just looking at the specs for the MT/R's in that size and they recommend a minimum 7.5" rim. Hmmm. Stock is 16x7. Not sure if that's the biggest or not though that you could safely fit.

I have 265/75/16, on AR rims which are 16/8, but still 16's...anyways my point is that My tires rubbed my stock running boards, and I was forced to take them off temporarily...

lots of people here are running these same tires, without rubbing, but mine did for some reason

cuz your 8" wheels are wider and because they make your tires stick out farther.

All these post are making me confused.

I guess if I put Goodyear MT/R's 265/75/16 on my 16" rimes on my stock '02, would it fit? I rather have a taller tire than wider. Cheap man's lift

Thanks,
Danny

danny (dlotoy4runner)

you should have no problems fitting the 265/75/16's on your 4runner. it will ride abit taller but not too much that u'll notice.

most of the guys here run the 265/75/16's or the 285's so you should have no problems.

"I have BFG AT KO's 275/70/16 on my stock rims (no lift).... "

either way u'll be fine. if you want to jump to 285's u'll have to lift it abit (a few inches)

Your original post was talking about fitting certain sizes of tires on rims, not how big a tire can you put on without a lift. The others were expecting to see the latter which is why my response. That's okay, we'll help you out!

Yes, 265/75 MT/R's fit. That is what I ran prior to lifting mine (and still run until they wear out). Many people run this size tire stock which is the tallest you can fit without rubbing. The MT/R's in that size measure 31.0". Other brands will vary. I gained anywhere from .5" to 3/4" "lift" depending on where the measurements were taken as expected.

I'll have my pics available once again for the masses to see later tonight that shows what this looks like.
