big puddles=no power steering?

So why am I losing my power steering when I mash through puddles? Anyone here in Cali knows we just had some major storms last week. I was out playing in 12-18" puddles and I noticed I pretty much lost all steering capabilities when I tore through the water. I just put a new P.S pump in and I assume perhaps maybe I need to tighten the belt a little more? (maybe it slips when it's getting wet???) Anyone else with this dilema? On a brighter note, I was up in tahoe with my new BFG A/T, having a blast, I was in 4WD the whole weekend! Good boarding, tons of fresh powder, and lots on lamo's with 2wd cloggin' the highway. GET a yota already.........

Same problem here with the power steering going out while going through puddles. Well I guess mine wasnt exactly a puddle because the water was up to my running boards when I had them on at the time. Dont know what causes this though and would be interested to find out.

Does it happen when you drive real slow through puddles? Or the instant you crash into the puddle? Because the tire wants to hydroplane when you drive into deep enough water fast enough, and it feels like the steering goes numb....

Thats what I'm thinking, from my (limited) exp

Hope you fix it though!

Mine was actually after fording flooded streets. It happened for about 15 minutes afterwards. Im thinking belt slippage was probably the reason.

Yeah it's belt slippage...same thing happened to me, just stop the rig, and turn the wheel back and forth a few times and it should stop. Or atleast thats what worked for me
