Yep, that's right. Maybe i'm an idiot, maybe not. Just couldn't let a decent 2nd gen get away for the price. I'll be picking it up in a couple days.

I'd like to thank everyone for their input in my other post. Even if you said it's a bad idea, it keeps me informed, and that's what this is all about (amybe I made the wrong decision, maybe not). We'll see what the problems are over the next couple months I'm sure and maybe that tax return will come in handy.

I like the way yours looks. Maybe because part of my front end is smashed
As soon as I get that fixed i need some bigger tires. What size are the ones in that pic? I am looking for some like that, not monsterous big and not super small like i have.
Hope it works awesome for you

Hey man, if you're talkin to me, I've got the Yokohama Geolandar AT-II's.
They are 33x12.50's on 15x10" wheels in the pictures.

Kyle, admit it....you're an addict. Just sell me you 2nd Gen and go seek help.

In fact sell me the 3rd Gen too!

Just kidding, I know the feeling. I already had a Runner and two Fj40's when I bought my 97 LX450. Which like you, I couldn't stand to let it get away for the price!

Congrats, you'll be happy you bought it.

Are you going to keep both? Just an FYI 2nd Gens are extremely easy to SAS.

A junk yard axle and the All-Pro kit, it's real easy. 3rd Gen s have the nice coil front ends but the 2nd gen t-bars are pretty stiff any way you cut it.

Honestly fellas, I don't know yet what I'll do. First thing I'll be doing is assessing the engine problems. If I can afford to keep it, the thought has crossed my mind. I'll be out of school in about 4 months if all goes as planned and so we'll see how things pan out. It'd make a good wheeling rig I think, however, if I find that I don't have the income to support another vehicle as well as insurance and stuff like that, I may turn around and sell it. I think of it as a good investment either way.

Congrats on the new rig!

If I remember correctly, didn't it overheat and need a new HG?

Nothing wrong with a 2 generation !

There is nothing wrong with a 2nd generation 4 runner. I know that some have had problems but don't all vehicles have some type of "quirck" or
concern? My 1990 4 runner has the 3.0L engine and I love it - I drive about 90 miles a day to and from work and now have 220,000 miles on a vechicle that looks good, is capable of almost anything ( within reason )
and is a pleasure to drive - most of my friends and co-workers envy my runner. While they have gone through a procession of cars and trucks my 4 runner is always in the parking lot and they see pictures of me - up on a snow covered mountain or deep in the woods - camping.

I do not understand the 2nd generation hype ! Obviously, I LOVE my truck.

Nice I think it looks good. Just check on the headgaskets that's all. Hey you even got one with a tire carrier.

Headgasket's blown on this one. Gonna have to repair engine. Previous owner said ran great, but he was going down the freeway and all of a sudden lost power and it started steaming. So... hopefully it'll only be under the knife for a little while and be good again.

good move kyle, get that gasket in there and see where you're at.

you'll have less than a grand in the whole thing!
you can probably get a full gasket kit for that engine on ebay, check it out.
