Do a basic tune up and don't go so hard on the throttle.

feul milage and surges

ya i know to doa basic tune up...i have done MSD 8.5 mm wires and plantnum plugs, new oil and filter...injector kleener, fuel filter, air filter...all that stuff...but i don;t know if there is any other ways than a basic tune up to get beter mileage....and also while i am driving my truck hesitates and surges the odd time and i have no idea why...i have heard that my TPS might need to be cleaned or replaced but i have no idea what it is or where or hw to do it...so if anybody could help me out..that would be great...also i heard it could be the O2 sensor but i don't know if ineed to replace both or just one..thanks

1) TPS adjustment http://www.4crawler.com/4x4/CheapTricks/TPS/index.shtml
2) clean the throttle body
3) replace the O2 sensor may help

You should also look at replacing the distributor cap and rotor.

P.S. Nice name by the way.

Bypassing the EGR or replacing it has been know to cure surging...If you bypass it make sure you don't have to pass smog.

Replacement is $200-300 and it is easy to do. I will never undertand why it costs so much though.

No not your AFM, I mean your O2 sensor in your exhaust.
I forget if 2nd gens have two or not but just replace whichever is in front of the cat converter.

Clogged fuel filter could also cause surging.
