best wheel/tire size for 285's on my 96 runner

hello, i have a 96 v6 2wd sr5 and im looking to get new wheels for it. i saw a 4runner the other day with 285, 75 i believe 15' or 16's...not sure, and i really want to get the same tires on my truck (bfg's)

my questions, with 16x8 and 285/75/16 what lift should i be looking to buy in order to fit these without any problems. if u have any suggestions maybe different wheel size, please post also. thanks!!

btw, im trying to avoid a bodylift. if anything i might settle for 265's.

he took the time to type all that up because he's trying to help, this forum has an awesome library of knowledge when it comes to lifting your runner, so i would suggest you read it. thats what i did, and within a week or so i've learned quite a lot

plus, i wouldnt suggest being a smarta$$ since he's only trying to help, i dont think thats a good way to start out here

good luck

Garrett actually gave you all the info you could possible need. This forum isn't here to spoon feed you and wipe your A$$. Do a search and you will see that there is a wealth on information out there. YOU need to take the time to read through it...if you don't want to, then don't ask questions.

Quick grammar lesson....

your= of or relating to one or oneself <when you face the north, east is at your right>

You're = contraction of you are. <you're a moron>

The answer you want is "it depends." What does it depend on? Mainly budget and what you want to use your truck for.

If you don't want a BL, you'll most likely rub w/ 285's. If you don't mind a 1" BL, then that w/ a mild suspension lift (2.5") will get you what you want. Now suspension lifts again drives many more choices (e.g., new taller coils, spacers, coilovers, etc.).

Do yourself a favor and research the links that Garrett posted and then come back w/ more specific questions. I'm still a newb but after reading on this board for many hours, I feel a bit more educated on this stuff. Good luck on the lift.

i actually know how to use the search feature. im a member of other forums juust wanted to post a quick question becuase i was at my friends house, hoped to get a reply when i got home to see if i should order the wheels or not before the shop closes.

i thought my questions was simple enough for someone to just reply quickly. but reading back my question wasnt too specific. thanks for the help ebelen1

SIMMA DON NAH! SIMMA DON NAH!

Hoerunner, Sent you a PM.

Also, I was dead set against body lifts before, but a 1" is cheap, easy, and gives a lot of clearance for something like what you are looking for. I wouldn't go above 1.5", but I am a believer in the little difference they can make as part of a whole package, IMO

I plan on installing a TJM 13 bumper on my '99 4Runner next week--will it still bolt up with a 1" body lift?
