Best way to remove dealer sticker on new vehicle?

I just got an '04 Tacoma and I'd like to remove the little dealer sticker from the tailgate. Does anyone have any suggestions on the best way to do this?

I've always just removed them with my fingernail. Since it is getting a little cold in PA now a hair dryer to heat it up might help to make it easier to get off.

I'm not too far from Philly. I live in Pottsville, home of Yuengling.

I would try the hair dryer just to heat up the sticker a bit to get the glue softer then peel up a corner, or prick it up with a needle and then use tweezers to grab it up, no chance of knicking paint using these small tools, unlike using a razor blade, [shudder], then grab it with your fingers. Worked on my pinstriping and the dealer logo on the tailgate and that dang thing was all individual letters so I had to pull off like 50 little stickers one at a time! Make sure you clean off the sticker residue with some goo be gone stuff or it will collect some major dirt! Wax on, wax off then have a Guiness and admire your handywork!!!

I have removed a fewe dealer stickers by first heating them with a blowdrier to soften the glue. Once it is heated I used a razor blade very carefully and scraped it off. You have to made sure that you keep the blade almost parellel with your car, much like shaving. If you lift up on the blade you will knick ithe paint. After the sticker is removed use a cleaner to remove the excess glue then wax.

After the sticker is removed I just wash the truck and rub a little harder in that area. Never had a problem maybe I'm lucky. I don't like using removers of any kind. I realize it probably won't harm anything but that stuff definetly takes the shine off and has to be rewaxed.

P.S. I personally would NEVER put a razor blade to my truck especially if it will come off with my fingernail. Maybe my hand isn't as steady as I'd like it to be.

I third the hairdryer method. Soak it in Bug and Tar remover afterwards, then start peeling. A nice coat of wax is always smart when you are finished.

I'll try the hairdryer method, but I'll have a Yuengling when I'm done instead of a Guiness.

Maybe the dealer should remove the sticker so its their butt. Why do they think they have a right to put their sticker on your new truck anyway? I hate that. Did they pay you to advertise for them? No. I even hate license plate frames with the dealer name.

People around here like to drive hoopty's with "Scottsdale Infinity" license plate frames...

Ya, whenever we buy a new car, we make them take the dealer sticker off of it before we ever drive it off the lot!

There was a dealer plate on the front of my truck and I took it off as soon as I got home. I have to take the truck to the dealer in 2 weeks, maybe I should tell them to take it off.... think they will?

I also ordered a TRD license plate frame off ebay to replace the one with the dealer's name on it. It cost $5.00 and looks pretty cool. This is the one I got:

I was also thinking about getting these... do you guys think they're too BLING BLING?

Hey, how many mounting holes does your TRD plate frame have? I just got mine in the mail and it only has 2 holes at the bottom. Will it work on my Taco?

It should. I originally had mine on my 98 Taco and moved it over to my 96 Runner.

The mounting holes should be on top, not on bottom...

Hmmmm... there are only 2 holes and they are on the bottom. I'm thinking I got screwed on Ebay. The ad said for a Tacoma. I'm thinking about just drilling 2 holes in the top.

Here's what it looks like:

The holes are on top on mine. I would say drill it.

That sucks.

I should be able to drill it. I'm not going through the hassle of sending it back.
