Best streetable mods?
What are the best streetable mods for the 4Runner? I have been saving and saving (also been saving ) and now I have ... modmoney! Yay! For a $800 budget, what are the best first mods on a stock 4Runner? I need to be able to run 32x12.5 dueler m/ts, so my mod list looks like this so far:
1" body lift
rear lift coils
crank t-bars
x-linked air shocks, f & r
swaybar disconnects
addco swaybars f & r
change all oils to Amsoil synthetics
change all filters (oil, fuel, transmission)
ext diff breathers f & r
For the final mod I'm looking at possibly getting a toyota e-locker if I can get one with the gearing I already have.

I have foglights =) I think I might get a factory switch, though, that would be a nice mod. I'm also thinking about doing a carpet to diamondplate or maybe a spray in bedliner type. I'd love to be able to spray in bedline it and hose it out like a hummer. I could move all the eletronics to a single "in cab" bundle in a waterproofed tube for water crossing and reliability.

I have a Detroit EZ-Locker, and I would call it 80% streetable after getting used to taking it easy around corners or at least tolerating the squealing now and then.
More importantly, the EZ-Locker only cost $200, so that would leave you somewhere around $600 to get perhaps a replacement rear or front bumper (or whatever it is you might want).
An automatic locker can sound scary, but for the price difference, it's hard to argue selectable lockers for someone on a budget... I love my locker, it's incredible off road, and I'm already used to dealing with it on road.
By getting a cheaper locker that leaves enough money for you to get other cool stuff!

I need to be able to drive long distances in the winter as well as the summer, here in PA I think an auto locker would be a very bad idea for going over mountains in the snow. I really wish I could get a non-selectable, but the only other option is a posi locker, which is still lots cheaper, but not a real locker

Well, maybe you could find a deal on ebay for an ARB kit... Worth looking into. Electric lockers could be hard to find cheap since they are at such high demand.

I would focus on traction upgrades as well. I had an Eaton posi in my old Ranger. It was a custome built ford 8.8 rear end, 4.10 gears and the Eaton. Not a real locker - yea right! Just had to take it easy around cornners but off road it was the best mod ever done to the rig. I drove in the snow many times and never had any problems - I think it the drive like you have a locker it's not a problem in the snow. Just avoid a ton of weel spin.
Good luck!

for what its worth, i have a 1985 toyota pickup with a lockright locker in the rear. i just got driving through lake tahoe on new years. there was a big storm that dumped like a foot of snow. i dont think you would have to worry about it in the snow. i felt safer driving around in my toyota than my 1990 bronco which doesnt have a locker.
