Also for the time being just open the airbox lid so you can get a rough idea of what it will sound like..Some do not like it after they do it. To keep the seal, just get a small 1 inch c clamp and tighten to hold the filer to the back of the airbox...yes, ghetto, but it works and is very reversible in 30 seconds.
I had to trim a couple of small pieces of wood to get them to fit just right and hold that filter tight and sealed.

Yes it will give an idea, its just allowing more air in by reducing the 90 degree angles everywhere. Some may argue its pulling in hot air in comparison to the deckplate or that its not a straight line in, but regardless there is more air available. Maybe someone who has done both will chime in, but it will give you some idea of what to expect.
