awesome write up foxtrot! and an excellent view on the gives and takes of modding a truck. your ride looks wicked with those 305's. ive got the same limited as you, but with 285's, and 8" wheels. a 1.5" 4crawler BL is on its way. thanks for the notes on the BL install, will definitely come in handy.
have you had some major rubbing issues on the pinch weld area of the fronts under full stuff? i was also concerned about how close the 305's came to the UCA's. if i end up going with the 305's in the future, i might have to look at getting some .25" spacers... after looking at your setup...my 285's feel so...inadequate. haha...

I haven't had any major rubbing issues in the front but they to touch in some situations. The tires rub on the frame rails in the rear of the wheel well at full lock. And twice now, they've rubbed on something when I'm bouncing hard while turning. I"ve stuffed them all I can, then got out and looked real close, but for the life of me I can't figure out where it is. The tires actually lightly rub the upper control arms at full droop. It was scary putting them on because I didn't think I'd get to drive home without going all grinder carnage on the A arm. When lowered off the lift, they clear (barely) and I"ll probably eventually get some spacers. I just don't think shaving that control arm would be such a great idea. It would always be in the back of my head on 70mph mountian interstates. Haha. |

FU,
Thanks for taking the time to document your experience. Great job! I've copied this thread (minus comments) into the tech section. We should require any newb looking for suspension advice on a 3rd gen 4runner to read this! Bob |

I just walked my little brother and a couple of his friends through the process the other day. Their idea of installing a lift is to take the truck to the shop with $5K then pick it up 2 weeks later. Honestly I wouldn't have known where to start if I hadn't discovered this site. "4 runner lift" dosen't turn up too much on google. Glad to give a little back! |

I got more fender clearance. The suspension makes the front set a couple inches higher, and the rear about 3 inches. You're not going to be clearing 35's (or 33's without some creative reshaping) but with the body lift on top of it, I have no trouble clearing the 33's. |
