bad sensor????

i just replaced the oxygen sensor on my '97 tacoma(3.4 ,5-speed)because i was getting an obdll reading that bank 1,sensor 1 was bad. i replaced the front sensor with a bosch universal that i had to splice my connector on to. they give you what looks to be a good splice connecter.my problem is that now i get a po135 code on the scanner. my book says that it is a sensor heater malfunction.how does this happen with a new sensor? i'm already wishing i had just spent the extra bucks for a toy sensor.

I am afraid you may need to replace with a Toyota sensor.
Also.....no, a new sensor will clear the code completely when working properly.
You may just have the sensor spliced wrong so double check that too.
