Bad day getting worse ***UPDATE***

Woke up late, late for work then get into a small fender bender, no real damage to my 4Runner - just need a valance, fog light and readjust my bumper.....

So I am leaving work and my check engine comes on...use my diag tool to figure it out and comes up with 3 codes...P0300, 0302 and 0303 (multiple missfires, misfire in cylinder 2 and 3)...so I go snoping around. Little oil near the cap, nothing major, so I check it, it smells burned, but the engine is hot and I do need an oil change. Also smell antifreeze but I see no leak or anyhting.

I haven't had a chance to pull the plugs yet to see if there is an issue with them due to the engine being hot.

Can anyone tell me what I might be possible looking at? Any ideas. I will post more when I pull the plugs.

Bob

Matt, checked all that, looks fine underneath. The bumper is just pushed up a little. I rear-ended (well my right corner hit there left rear corner) a Saturn at about 5-10mph, so the damage actaully looked worse then what it was due to the Saturn being plastic.

As for the misfire's...I pulled all the plugs and they all looked the same, clean with no fluid on them. Am I missing something?..or could they have been just jarred due to the accident today? I cleared the codes, so we'll see if anything happends.

Thanks
Bob

Never did to my knowledge. The gauge never went above half way.

Misfire can also be from plug wires. (one of the many things) While you are snooping around be sure to check them out.

Ok, I get it...the engine was too hot to touch, not overheating. Sorry, misunderstood.

Brian, no problem. I see from your sig that your just running 2.5" of lift and 305's. Any problems with rubbing or anything like that?

As a matter of fact I do rub in the rear. I had 1" spacers on all 4 and it rubbed really bad in the rear so I took them off. Not as bad now but still annoying. The front is fine (you must run the 1" spacers in the front w/ 305s or the tires will rub the upper a arm). I'm getting 285s for the next set, I don't recommend 305s unless you have 3-3.5" of lift.

Check the plug wires, when my 97 acted like that they were the problem.

did you stall out when you collided? you could have gotten the misfire codes from an impact stall.

how is it running now? any different than usual? any reason to think something is out of whack besides the codes being generated?

you've cleared, so obviously if they return something is up. but if not, unless you want to confirm timing hasn't jumped, sounds like you've checked everything worth checking.

you can check resistance on your wires if you want to, but if it doesn't appear to be running short a cylinder, they should be ok, right?

i'd keep an eye on that lower rad tank for pooling at the seams. front impacts often crack and don't blow immediately. they'll steam a while and give you the smell, then start to piss out like a week later. if you can pressure test, that may be worth doing.

So far, so good. No, the veh didn't stall, was about a 5-10mph crash. I pulled all the plugs, cleaned them and put the plugs back on tight so we'll see.

If I wanted to replace the plugs and coils, where could I get them from...besides a dealer.
