Is it bad to....

Is it bad to put your truck in 4low without locking the hubs (manual), and just use it as 2wd low?

its perfectly fine, just watch your speed as its easier to break loose the tires in 2lo then 4lo, and the low range system does not like excessive speed

I used it for backing up the trailer around corners and in tight spots. It goes slow enough so you don't have to ride the clutch.

I do this often.

My yota is a 3.slooow automatic, I use 2 low a lot, when I have a load in the yard, or am using my truck to pull something heavy, I moved some LAAARRRGGGE stones that the excavators pulled out of my property when they installed my new septic system, and they are about the size of a Yugo! I also use 2Low when I am wheeling quite often.. There are a lot of trails that I run that you don’t need to lock the hubs if it hasn’t rained or if there is no snow, my Revos have helped out a lot with this! I put the trans in drive, and let it shift into 2nd gear, I can then basically crawl my way through just about anything in 2 Low, and it doesn’t heat up the trans or strain the engine at low RPMs. This is nice since most of the local trails are about 25 miles away and if you don’t need your hubs locked, why lock them for the road!

Yeah it should be fine, just keep it in the low gear range though the same as 4lo.

that's what i use it for. makes it easier on the clutch and puts less shock on the trailer hitch than you would by putting it in 1st and slamming on the gas

For backing trailers with thw 4runner it's good.. for backing a big trailer with a high torque diesel & leaf springs it's GREAT...

I like using 2low for stop and go traffic. It gives my left foot a break as I dont really touch anything, but a little brake.
Just leave it in gear and crawl baby!
