back mud flap on 1999 limited
I am thinking about cutting off the black part of my back mud flap. One the limited flare it has a sliver mud flap with a black flap that hangs down low. I think if I cut it off it will make my truck look taller because you will see more tire tread. I am also thinking about taking off the rear window spoiler. (The mat black spoiler over the 3rd brake light.) I just think it would make It look newer and cleaner.
Thanks for your imput

Are you planning on doing any kind of wheeling or even driving on a dirt road? If you do plan on it, and you do indeed cherish your nice paint job then I would leave the mudflap alone. I live on a dirt road and even with my factory mudflaps I still the occasional "stray bullet" thrown from my tires up onto the chrome bumper & even sometimes the paint. I too have thought about removing the spoiler on my rig. I have a '95 but its the same deal, I just don't know how it would look. You could always take it off and then if it doesn't look right after a while simply reinstall it. Most importantly, IMO I think those rear tailight covers look pretty bad. They look alright on yours, but if it was me they would come off in a second. I think it makes the rig look my much cleaner and just...I dunno, its hard to explain...just better
But in-any-event I would leave the flaps alone, IF you plan on driving over any kind of gravel/dirt road at any kind of speed. However, it would probably LOOK better...but wouldn't be as functional.
Let us know what you decide,
Fink

I need to take mine off my Limited also, every time I go offroad, they get bent because they're too stiff. If I'm climbing something steep and the tail is in the dirt, they get jammed into the ground and cause the flare they are attached to to pop out of shape.
Anyone have any ideas for a replacement? Would 4x4 Tacoma ones work? Pics with them off would be good too. Thanks

Before removing your rear mudflaps, you should consider what your state says about having mudflaps. In some states, they must have them.
If you don't need the mudflaps remove the rear bumper and side bumpers, and make your own bumper.

I was looking at my rear spoiler the other day, cause i was curious to see what my ride would look like without it. It looks like there are screws going into the body of the runner...just something you might wanna consider, unless you enjoy using body filler and touch-up paint

Well I tryed to take off my back spoiler yesterday. I thought that it was only going to be held on by 4 screws but it is also held on by doulbe sided trim tape. I was scared to pull up the tape and brackets because I just figured I could wax where the brackets but I could see alot of raw metal around the scew holes on the top of the hatch.
As for the back mud flaps. I think I am going to cut them off but I need to see a better pic. I have aftermarket wheels that set out more than stock so that little black flap at the bottom doent realy do anything for me.
Have blue if you have any pics of you flaps can you eighter post them or send them to williamssk123@yahoo.com
Thanks
