Question axle questions

Ok here's my issue I've got some questions that I really need answered. I have a 1988 toyota pickup with the 3.0 v6 in it. I was wondering what it had for gears in it if they were 4.10's like the 22re truck or if they were different. Also I am under the impression that it's not a c-clip rear end because of the 3rd member but i can't seem to find a mini spool for it anywhere. I don't feel like welding the spiders so can someone please steer me in the right direction. Also has anyone had experience running the IFS wiht anything bigger than the stock motor and how did it hold up?? Thanks a lot, Craig wade

That depend on the transmission and wheel option that came with that truck.
auto with 28" tires ----4.10
auto with 31" tires-----4.88
manual with 28" tires-----4:30
manual with 31" tires-----4.56

The rear end of toyota is equal to or stronger than Dana 44.

Um, I think you got the ratio wrong for that year. I'm pretty sure in 88 with 3.0 the options were:

225R15
5 speed or auto - 4.10
(22RE Auto - 4.30)
31x10.50
5 speed or Auto - 4.56
(22RE Auto - 4.88)
Every single 3.0 5speed I've seen had 4.10s (including the one I own) or 4.56

Look at your axle code on the door jamb sticker. Look for the 4 digit portion that starts with G, as in G292 or G252. The G is for 8", the first two numbers are the ratio, and the final number (2 or 4) is number of pinions.
G292 is 8", 4.100, 2 pinion
G252 is 8", 4.556, 2 pinion (G254 would be 8", 4.556, 4 pinion)
G282 is 8", 4.300, 2 pinion
G142 is 8", 4.875, 2 pinion

Sorry bout the missing specs, it's got a 5 speed in it. I don't know what it came with for tires stock cuz the guy had put 31x10.50's on it before I got it and I don't know if they were stock size or not. Also I don't plan on rock crawling wiht it, jsut mud bogs and muddy trail rides. any info on the mini spools?? Thanks
