Automatic transmission fill location???
I am replacing the auto transmission fluid on my 98 4runner and not sure the location of the fill. I found the drain bolt. Bob write up has his fill at the bottom but his was manual. Is the auto transmission fill at the top where you check the fluid level? Thanks.
Also, how many quarts do I need if I'm just going to drain and fill?

Yes, the tube that the ATF dip stick is in is also the fill tube. It helps if you use a funnel LOL, and pour slow because if the little o-ring is not in good shape you will leak ATF out of the joint between the pan the dip stick tube. About 5 quarts should do it I'm guessing.

Darned... I only bought 3 quarts. Can I fill 3 quarts and then drive to autozone and get two more quarts and fill it? It's only 3 miles away. Thanks for the reply MT.

Hum... well how much came out of it? If it was 4 quarts then you would be one quart low. I probably wouldn't risk it, not worth ruining a $2000 tranny for what little trouble it would be to get the ATF before hand or get a ride from someone if you already drained it out.
