automatic lighting / ambient light sensor

I'd like to mod my 2002 4Runner to add automatic lighting. This option is available on lots of vehicles now, where you turn the headlight switch to "auto," and at dusk, the vehicle's headlights, taillights and dash lights illuminate. Something called a "sentinel sensor" is available on some newer Toyotas. Has anyone used an aftermarket kit or grabbed a lighting module from a junkyard vehicle?

Should not be to hard to figure out.

Just more parts to fail when you really need them.

My lights get turned on when the vehicle starts and turned off when it gets shut off.
