Each part that I have fabricated on my vehicle I have first drawn a 3-D Model of it in AutoCAD. I need to finish the exact dimensions on the newest parts since changes needed to be made, but I placed them all together into one drawing, what do you guys think? Once I get some time I am going to slowly draw as much of the vehicle as possible

I would make them but my dad's shop where I build everything is 150 miles away so it would be hard to find the time. I put the link below to my website where it shows how I attached it.

Damn!!! That is great looking! How did you reproduce the arcs for the hood and such!? I have a project that involves drawing the top view outline of my rig and I don’t have a clue where to start with all those arcs.

That is really impressive. PM me if you have any advice, I can also fill you in on my project too.

You're CAD skills are very impressive! What Autocad are you using? All of the autocad I have used have been 2d sketching.

I've got my own little CAD project here It's an RC car that I am designing in my engineering class, and hopefully by march I will have all the parts milled from aluminum/plastic and make a working model... Then its on to selling the plans/designs, or making more and selling them.

Again, it looks awesome!

The hood and front grill were hard to create. AutoCAD is not the most friendly 3-D software. I had to do it by creating numerous solids from the x-y-and z dirrections all which were subtracted or intersected together to form the final product. Basically it takes a lot of thinking of how you will combine different solids to create the final.

I used 2000i for this drawing. I have used every version of AutoCAD and I would not recommend anything older than 2000i if you want to do complex 3-d drawings. R14 works but takes much longer

Being a Draftsman myself I know good work when I see it and that is some fine 3d rendering you are doing there keep it up! I hate 3d in AutoCadd like 90% of the time, luckily in Civil Drafting I dont have to do to much of it. Really nice work!

I hated R14......2000i was the first user friendly version. I do most of my stuff in Pro/E but I have done work in almost every platform (AutoCAD, Pro/E, Unigraphics, Catia, Solidworks, etc...). AutoCAD is probably the easiest/cheapest for simple drawings but it is more difficult to create in 3D so my hat is off to you for what you have done.

Are you and engineer or just have fun playing?

I would love to get the CAD files if you are willing to send it.

I am the AutoCAD tech at work. I took a couple of courses in Pro/E and that is a great engineering program, but you are right it's expensive. PM me and I will give you an address where I will place them for downloading.
