auto to manual help
so i toyed with the idea of getting rid of my truck. i decided against it since i just finished fixing everything that was wrong with it.
my next project that i want to start is gonna be a 5-speed converstion. i think this will make the truck a lot more fun to drive. i've searched but can't find any solid info.
a donor truck will probably be out of the question cause i dont have a ton of money to work with. has anybody done this or know what i will need to do the swap. i am really excited about this and would like to start piecing stuff together soon.
any advice and help is appreciated

Let me know if you decide to jump on this this is going to be a very hard conversion.
The only way to do this without going into any conflicts is to find a rolled over 2000 4runner 5spd with 4wd.

Try going to a junkyard and tell them what youre doing, they might be able to give you everything you need from one truck and for a decent price since youre buying a lot from one vehicle.
I doubt it would be that hard if you could figure out all the electronics before hand.

It's alot more complex than you realize...........can be done, of course, but the amount of work is way too much for even me to tackle.
It's not just a simple transmission swap, the engine's control systems are different, so the computer and wiring harness needs to be swapped out as well, otherwise you'l have a persistant CEL.
The reason you can't find any information on how to do it, because it hasn't been done........

Alot of work will need to be done, such as you will have to swap out the wiring harness, hook up a new pedal, new bellhousing/with 4x4 transmission. It is not impossible but can be done and would definitely be worth it of you put enough money into your truck already. If it is stock, just go buy a manual.

?????
I see no relevance it that thread link......This is not a 3.4L engine and tranny being swapped into an earlier model Toy. The original poster has a 2000 4Runner, there's much more that needs to be taken into consideration.
