I am thinking about purchasing a replacement front bumber for my 1997 4Runner. I've looked at ARB and TJM's web sites but neither mentions the 4Runner specifically. My goal is to replace my damaged bumper/valance and gain protection from critters such as deer. I need something that fits without modification. I mainly drive on road so keeping it light is important. The TJM T3 looks good to me. How about some opinions? Thanks! Janis

TJM will bolt on w/o modifications. ARBs require some minor modification to the frame rails that can be easily reversed if need-be. I vote ARB, but, then again, I am a little biased.

I have a TJM-17 and like it a lot. The install was very straight forward outside of it being heavy. Get a buddy to help and it's no sweat.

One downside (and this is an issue with ARB as well) is that the sides/end points of the bumper aren't directly supported. The bumper is plenty stiff to be able to support it's own weight (and then some) but if you jump on or run up a tree with the endpoints, then you may tweak it.

I've never had it happen, but "it's possible" with a LOT of force.
