Apline Alarms
I'm going to be in the market for a new alarm system soon becuase that was the first thing to go when my truck had its bath. I was looking around and I really like alpine and like the prices of their alarms on Ebay ($100+/-). Now my question is... does anyone know the difference between the 100s and the 150R? I looked on the site and couldn't really find any differences. Except for the extra $50 added to the suggested retail. If anyone has heard anything bad about these systems let me know too .
Thanks!

i absolutly love my alpine alarm , i cant remeber what model it is , but ive owned 3 different ones in 3 different vehicles .
the price difference may be the type of sensors it comes with .
theres only 2 bad things , and they arent really that bad ,the older models , like 4 years ago , had remotes that went bad in about a year , but they have redisgend them and are way better now , the second thing is the motion sensor goes off when the sun rises and creates a moving shadow, im sure this can be adjusted for , also the moiton sensor will go off is your near an operating old school microwave , theres not many off them around anymore , but if someone near you has one and stsrts popping there midnight movie popcorn and you alarm goes off , its probably the microwave.
other then that they kick butt.

I purchased a 150R shortly after purchasing my truck, a couple weeks ago. I am extremely happy with it so far. I paid $190 for it and installed it myself. The main difference between the 100 and the 150R is the dual stage radar sensor. I have been kinda lazy, and have not gotten around to mounting the radar and shock sensors yet, but I'm extremely happy with it so far. The remotes are lighter and have greater range than my Clifford AvantGuard 4, which is nice. The LED is very bright, and lights my entire interior at night (not sure if I like that or not).

Being in the biz Alpine makes a good alarm. The only real difference between the 150R & the 100 is that the 150R comes with a dual stage radar sensor as where the 100 does not. So unless you have a convertable and or leave your windows down all the time you won't ever really need it. Alpine does make good alarms but inop professional opinion anything DEI (Directed Electonics)(i.e. Viper, Python, Clifford, etc....) stuff is better for overall long term vehicle protection. I don't know how soon your looking to get some security but the new G5 (Generation 5) Clifford stuff is gonna be out within the next month. My only complain with the Alpine alarms would be there failure rate, I see more Alpine alarm brains than any other that come back as faulty. I'll be putting a new G5 Avantguard 5 on my 03' Taco as soon as there out, but anything made by DEI again is among the best out there. Any ?'s I can answer about alarms or tunes let me know.
