Anyone running 20's with an All Terrain tire & what size?

So I did the pre-req. search, but haven't found much info on this tire fitment. I found a set of 20" wheels for a hell of a deal locally & I'm debating if I should make the upgrade. These are the wheels:

The tire rack recomends a 275/45 but those are way to low profile for my taste, So I was thinking a 275/55 in these new Cooper AT LTZ's would look cool:

Here's how the sizes compare to stock:
275/50/20:
Overall Diameter: 31.90 in
Section Width: 10.82 in
Circumference: 100.2 in
Diameter Difference: 4.08%

265/70/16
Section Width: 10.43 in
Overall Diameter: 30.60 in

So they're about 1.3" taller & .39" wider, so I'm not really sure if they'd fit untill i get it lifted, depending on the offset of the wheel.

My original plan was to pick up a set of 17" FJ cruiser take offs, but I keep getting thwarted in every attempt to get a set off ebay.

Any opinions?

I think the FJ wheels would be much better looking, but, that is just me. Do what you want, and what you think will look best.

As for fitting those tires, they are almost 32" tall, and with that, you will need to probably have about 1" or so of lift to be on the safe side. You could always install them, and if they do not rub, your golden. If they do, do a lift.

yeah, its kind of a gamble on whether they'll they fit. I do plan on off roading it a bit, but that usually only happens 3-4 times a year, though sure the lack of side wall on the 20's will prolly suck in the sand etc.

backspacing is going to be a deciding factor on if they will fit.

I'm 99% sure that you will rub with those tires and wheels. Personally, I don't see a point in having a 20" rim with off-road tires. Seems self-contradicting. Like low-rider trucks, flood insurance in Egypt, and Mugsy Bogues.

The FJ wheels will be a much better fit (dimension wise and aesthetically). Or even FJ80 wheels will be better.

Yeah I hear ya, I was trying to find some FJ80 wheels with out much luck. I did find some junk yards across the country with some, but spending $300-400 for wheels that need refinishing seems kinda crazy when I can get those 20's for the same price.
There's a few more auctions I'm watching for FJ wheels so hopefully those will work out.

Thanks for the pics. That's definitly not the look I'm goin for, though the silver wheels would lack the bling factor of those, I think that just made up my mind, that & I found a deal on some almost new 265/75/16 bfg at's last night

Now that's more like it, those look BadA$$!
I'm trying to line up some Land Cruiser or LX450 wheels for those BFG's now. I found a set of LX450s for $425 shipped with center caps or Land cruiser's for $320 with out the caps, I prefer the cruiser's but the center caps seem hard to find.

Good choice! Glad you didn't go the "dub" route.
