those of you with the AT KL78's how are ya liking them? getting some tax $ back and i have been eyeing these tires for quite some time. they have nothing but good feedback so far even compared to BF AT's.

- side question, my current tires are the BF long trails (yeah i know but thats what was on the truck when i bought it) they have 50k miles on them or more and they have tiny cracks in the grooves between the treads.. the treads look like they have atleast 15k or more miles left on them. what is with the cracks in the tires?? should i go ahead and replace or wear them out more and replace. she doesnt see off road at all with those tires, mainly highway use. thanks guys

If they still work, wear em out.
And as far as the KL78's.
I like them they grip fine off road for an A/T.
They have nice road manners and are not very loud, although they do seem to wear very quickly. (I drive a little hard) but i didnt even get 25K out of mine....

Those cracks are called Dry-Rot. It happens to tires over time and while probably not a huge deal, if you have the money to get a better tire then why not.

If you spend a bit more time on the pavement than off-road and live where it snows, look into the Goodyear Wrangler SilentArmour...it's a wicked A/T tire and you can often get them on-sale 4 for the price of 3.

doesnt snow here much at all. 1 inch so far this year. this global warming crap sucks lol.. we used to get a foot or more a year and sometimes 4-8 inches when it snows BUT the past few years have been nill..


i am not rough on tires so ill stick with the Kumho kl78's AT.. plus for 500$ and free rotations for life. ill take them

I was talking to a tire delaer around here, and he said that Kumho was a better built tire than Nitto and he said with a Load Range D on a 4Runner to expect 40-45K out of them.

Firestone Destinations AT rated very very well at this site. the same i used for the Kumhos.. hm i may change my mind who knows

I just ordered a set of Kuhmo's yesterday from tread depot. (free shipping)

I previously had this brand on my past two cars, one a BMW 325ix, the other not worth mentioning.

I never had any problems with these tires and have been impressed for a "low budget tire". Granted they were street tires, but they made my cars stick in the Apexes awesome and performed far beyond my expectations.

The all terrains for a daily driver should work fine since half of my drive is on the interstate to work.

For the mud I am just going to collect a set of stock spare wheels from 3rd gens, powdercoat and put some muddies on.

I will post back later when I have some miles on them and do a little wheeling.

I am going with the Destination ATs as well. Best part for me is that in a 265/75R16 they weigh only 43 lbs each for a load range C tire. That is better than my Scorpion A/Ts that are 44 lbs each and 265/70R16.

Just because Firestone is much more of a domestic brand tire doesn't mean it wouldn't be good for a Yota.

i just got mine (destination at's)put on about 800 miles ago. i love em!! so so so much better than the BF's i had on before. they are quiet, have an aggresive tread pattern, rated very well, actually much better than BF AT's. and i paid 600 bucks for mine. they are 6ply tires in 265/75/16's.. i am really pleased with them as of right now.

i got them at a locally owned tire center in burlington NC, they have awesome prices for most tires. esp their brand "firestone/bridgstone".. they like the AT's also. they like them much better than the bridgstone at's by far. these are rated at 50k miles
