Anyone know of a good aftermarket radio?

I was wondering if any 2003/04 4runner owners have come across a good aftermarket head unit with MP3 capability that has a similiar orange illumination?

I can't stand the factory JBL system any longer, my only complaint with the truck. It's a sad day when the Buick Century I rented from Avis has a better stereo then the my 4Runner.

Thanks for any info anyone has?

hit up crutchfield and do a search there.

im surprised the jbl system is bad.. whats wrong with it? is it just bad quality sound, or is it an actual defect?

I'll take a look there.

Good idea with Crutchfield. I have looked on-line but looked over that place.

The JBL system I have has no defects just poor sounding for a upgraded 600 dollar stereo. The just put in junk compared to other stereos. It's too bad because you would think with eight speakers including a sub they were headed down the right path. It's just sounds cheap compared to aftermarket stereos or any car with a bose system.

So I just want to rplace the head unit with an MP3 one that has similiar look to the factory one with orange illumination.

Thanks for the suggestion.

Maybe the speakers are crappy rather than the radio? Just a thought.... I'll go away now.

I would look into an aftermarket amp before I looked into a new headunit. They can put in an inline converter and hook up an aftermarket amp to your speakers and that would make it sound a whole lot better and you could keep your original deck. Your problem is probably not the speakers themselves(although good aftermarkets would be better) but probably they are just not getting enough juice. My old Tahoe sounded like crap until i hooked up an amp on the factory speakers. It was like night and day.
