I can relate
Yep - I have the hood mount too, and it rubs a little bit. I just plan to grind it down a little bit - no biggie. If your radio antenna is on the pass. side, then you would probably be better off mounting it on the driver's side.

I have pics of my old setup on my CB page listed on my homepage.
It did not rub, but it was a close fit.

You might check your hood to see if it is closer to the fender on the drivers side than the passenger side. When I was mounting my bracket (made to fit Toyotas), one of the CB place people said I might have to loosen the hood mounting bolts a bit and shift it a little toward the other side. I managed to fit mine without any hood moving (as Corey said, its close), so I haven't actually tried it. I think I'd be careful not to loosen things much though.
You do have to put the bracket so the offset (where the two bends are close together) lines up with the edge of the hood/corner of the fender. There isn't enough clearance to just have the bracket come straight up through the gap anywhere you choose. On mine, that limited me to one place, and I don't think the bracket would even work on the other side because of the angle of the bends. I haven't noticed any obvious rubbing, but I wonder if there is enough hood/body movement to wear paint away over time. Alan |
