Anyone here used Tacoma Lower Ball Joints on a 3rd gen 4Runner?
Hi,
Has anyone used the Tacoma Lower Ball Joints on a 3rd Gen 4Runner? Is the Tacoma LBJ longer than the 4Runner LBJ? Does it move the wheels farther out? Fenrisx in UY mentioned about it but hasn't replied to my query as yet.
This could be one way of increasing the front track width without the use of wheel spacers.
Thanks

If I recall correctly you also have to replace the outer tie rod end to get this to work.
EDIT:
Start here- http://www.toyota-4runner.org/3rd-ge...ll-joints.html
Taco joints still fail in the same manner, they may be beefier, but does that mean they're better considering how they're failing? I've been keeping an eye on the end results but with a service length of 150,000+ miles it'll be awhile before there's enough info to answer my question.

Good find Hab! Thanks!
And yes, the OTREs have to be replaced with Taco ones as well, as per Fenrisx' post in UY.
EDIT: From what i read from the link in Hab's post above, it seems that the length difference is only on the arm connecting to the OTRE. so the wheel is not moved outwards. Not as I previously thought it would move the wheel outwards. But the Taco LBJ and OTRE are a bit beefier compared to the 4Runner parts.

From what I read, there seems to be some issues with this mod:
1. The turning radius is reduced so parking in tight places may require a bit more effort or perhaps a different approach angle
2. There have been cases wherein the OTRE hits the sway bar end link and may require some grinding.
