anyone have a stillen exhaust on their 3rd gen?

I just bought a stillen exhaust for my 99 4runner, just wanted to know if anyone has this exhaust. it was really too cheap for me to pass up. it came out to be $175 with shipping, which was less than i was going to spend for a muffler and piping, not to mention its mandrel bent instead of the crush bent exhaust, which no one in my area can do mandrel bends. heres a link..

Unless you're SC'd mandrel vs crush bent is not really relevant but at $175 that's a steal.

Post some pics.

ill post some pics when ups drops it off. stillen makes some pretty good stuff, so im assuming that the exhaust should be of good quality. i thought about having an exhaust made, but most shops here dont carry aluminized pipes in stock, and charge extra to flange the exhaust.

i ordered this exhaust and recieved it tonight
here are some pics

as you can see its a magnaflow muffler with some pretty mandrel bent piping. The tip is nice and shiny and exits the rear of the car instead the side. Considering it only cost 130 before shipping and tax its one hell of a deal.

It is made for the CA emissions dual cat v6. It appears to be pretty good quality and I cant wait to install it.

I ordered it monday morning and it arrived earlier today (thursday) Im in northern CA.

ill take pics tomorrow once its installed and post them

What size is that muffler? It looks like it might be the 24" body. By the way, that's a nice tip. It makes me wish I had gotten the whole system on my Taco inseat of just the muffler.

Please post some pics when you get it installed.

the wheels are Pace brand. I painted the center part with flat black and did a really crappy job. I just wanted to see how it would look. They look just like american racing rims except for the center cover.

size is same as stock. cant remember what that is.
anyhow they were cheap I got them at Just Tires for 37 dollars a piece.

hope that helps

time to go zoom around the block

well i drove the car and tried to get a feel of performance changes. I cant really tell but it does sound faster!!

anyhow i have a question
at anything above 75 percent throttle the sound coming out of the tip changes to that of rushing wind. at WOT high rpm the sound is like a JET! theres no deep throaty sound it just sounds like air is being shot out the tip with no reverberation at all.

i checked for leaks. the two sections that are bolted are tight and the sound is definitely coming out the tip.

im wondering if its the tip or just the muffler itself that makes it sound like that

i checked the sound clips on coreys page but no one is really wide open at high rpm it seems or maybe mine is just different.

any input?

It looks like there is a diffuser or something insode the tip. There are little holes inside that might be there to reduce the noise.

$75 deal going on now-Yota Tech marketplace-Hot Deals

any reason the exhaust would only fit 00-01s?

Yes I see this is a 5 year old thread.

If any of you all are still around --any shortcomings to the Stillen exhaust?

ok now it's a 12 year old thread and I can answer my own question.

The Magnaflow muffler has now rusted out at the inlet pipe after just about 6 years of use and the exhaust tip is looking pretty ratty as well. Still no complaints for around $90 shipped.
