Anyone driven a 2005 Tacoma 4 cyl yet?

I am most likely going to be in the market for a new Tacoma fall of 2005

I would get the ext cab v6 but refuse to buy the hi test gas the factory recommends.

I want 4wd but do most of my traveling on the hiways.

My 99 v6 4wd ext cab Tacoma is doing well at 168 thousand miles but I am sure I will hit 200k by the winter. I am doing a lot of traveling between Tulsa Ok and Atlanta GA.

Anyone have any experience with how the 4 cyl Tacos do on the hiway and especially the 2005.

I went up to the local dealership and the 2005 4 cyl EPA figures really do look good - as good as the mini suv types like suburu, honda elements etc.

appreciate the input

i test drove one about a month ago...
to be honest, its lighter and has more ponies than my 2.7 in my 4runner, but i wasnt too impressed in the power dept. it wasnt much quicker than my 4runner with 33's lots of steel and 4.88's. im positive it gets better mileage than my 4runner, but the power just wasnt impressive.
however, if fuel economy is your main goal, then go for it!

Dave,
that information you have is erroneous. The V6 is a regular octane engine. If you experience knocking (high altitudes, etc) then use high octane.
Don't know if that affects your decision... sorry don't know anything about the 4. If it's anything like the older Taco 4 cylinder, it should be brilliant.
