Anybody still running an Aussie on 3rd Gen?

First, I've done all of the searches and can't find a ton of info on the Aussie Locker. I have a 99 and I want a basic, simple to install rear locker. I use this rig as my DD, but would like to have more off-road capability. It seems that the Aussie is very popular on here, but I'm trying to make sure that it will work on the rear axle of a 3rd Gen Runner. So, is the Aussie still the best option for on/off-road. Also, where is the best place to purchase one?

I dont believe that aussie makes a locker for the rear v6 for 96-2002 4runners. i wanted one initially and saw several posts of them saying they were working on it and it would be ready in a month, and got the same response from them myself and it still hasnt come(as far as i know). they might have a model for the 4 cylinder but i havent heard much about it.
i have a powertrax lockright, and the part number is 1620. it was like $235 on ebay from "justdifferentials" i used the make an offer part and he accepted 235.

i really like it alot. it dramatically improves offroad performance, and i can only hear it if i put all the windows down and dont press the gas down at all on a low speed turn. but then again my tires are also very loud so that helps to dampen it. and mine is my daily driver. it was also very easy to install, i had someone with me who had fooled with differentials before and he was easily able to figure it out the hardest part was getting the 3rd to come out mine was like stuck in there.

You can put a Lock Rite in. I had on in my "97 for a couple of years before I took it back out.

if you get a 4cylinder third same gearing you can throw in an aussie in the rear.

My rear end let go on the street. I took the third member in for a new ring and pinion and and had them take the Lock Rite out. I was getting tired of it's street manors. They stink on mountain roads. I have been open diffed for almost a year and don't really miss the locker.

You have to get a 3rd member as well not just the locker for the 4.10.

I'm still waiting for them (Aussie) to come out with a locker for the V6...If they don't have one by the time I need it I'll go Lock-right. I think they are about the same as performance goes.

no, what he's saying is... if you find a 4cyl. third from a different 4runner/truck, you can use that whole third member. it just needs to have the same gears as the front. for example, i have an aussie in mine. if i was getting rid of it, you could buy it and put it in your's. i think is what he's saying.

Gotcha, seemed too simple to be true. Looks like the LockRite is the main choice then.

yes, unless you're able to find a third like mine. i vouch for the aussie so if you can find that go w/ it.
