Anybody like surf fishing?

I made a surf fishing rod mount for my truck today I think it turned out well ... looks much better than something bolted to the front IMO

I will probably go back and paint them black later but for now they are good

Remove the rods before you hit the Interstate.

I'm no acoustical engineer. But it seems rather obvious that those may produce some significant levels of sound when driven into the wind at that angle.

What I can't quite imagine is what exactly that will sound like. My first thought was train whistle.

Keep us posted on that...

On the surf fishing...not so much. I dig clams though. Other than that I like jetty fishing at night by lantern light...sometimes. Word of caution there...I had to take myself to the hospital at 1:00 am from attempting such a hazardous activity. Split my chin open ~2.5" wide when I fell straight into a hole between the massive boulders comprising the jetty. In hindsight, I should've been a little less hesitant to drop the rod/reel and tackle box. And instead INSTANTLY freed-up both my hands to catch myself. Oh yeah..knot on the back of my head from racking it on the rocks too, about the size of a golf ball. Like I says...be careful out there if you're gonna do that. I'd done it succesfully dozens of times prior...but like they say...eventually...it's bound to happen.

I guess if those old Penns hit the concrete, you won't be too worried.

If I had my Loomis, St. Croix and Lamiglass rods sitting like that, I'd be much poorer in the wallet after the trip.

Lol I don't see why you would say they're gonna hit the concrete there is no way that the pipes would slip out they are supported and secured on the back side and the top of the PVC are topped with couplings and glued so they can't slip out ... I don't know where you guys are from but around here and in NC this is how everyone transports their rods except usually mounted in front of the bumper instead of on it

Its hard to find places to park on the beach in California anymore. Wanna hear a short story? Ok. Back in 1982 ther was beach access in Davenport. I was able to blow a VW motor in the sand. 22 years old, tires fully inflated, tide coming in, on the gas until I broke a rod. No big deal it was time for a 1600cc, 12 volt upgrade I guess. My first carnage.

I took Tony fishing last year and tried to get him to hold the rod correctly
