95.5-98 uses the MAF that comes mounted in the housing.

99-02 uses the removeable MAF mounted to the intake tube just after the af housing with two screws.

Ok, so I'm wondering, this intake I sell, is listed for 99-02, and do you think there is anyway this would work on 96-98 with the different maf?

see pdf:

also if its just the intake tube it should be all the same but if it replaces the entire factory air box then i doubt one for a 99 will work for a 98

Yea, the whole airbox gets replaced with a new highflow box. Check out that PDF. That's the question, would it work for a 96-98. That link is pretty detailed with pics.

I have a '98 T100, which uses the older style MAF. The intake I got for free was for a 99-02 Tacoma. I cut the intake tube off where the MAF port was, and used a spectre silicone cuppler from autozone to attach the MAF to the tube.

TO run a 99+ MAF in a pre99 you need to re-pin the harness...

Interesting indeed. Same concept of repinning applies when converting your 96-00 tails to the 01-02 style on both 4Runners and Tacomas.
