Another suspension question...

Another suspension question...
Hey guys, I already searched for an answer to my question but I couldnt find it, so i'll ask the experts. I have a 97 4Runner, 4x2 90k miles auto. Anyways, when i bought the vehicle the suspension was sorta rough, and my father being the mechanic that he is told me 4Runners suspension is a little rough, it isnt a lincoln. Well, as the months went by the suspension got worse, the tires are worn abnormally (bumps), so I knew it had to be the shocks. Now I want to make sure it is because when this thing hits a bump wow, it becomes a bird! Plus the rear seems like it always hits the bump stop, even through speed bumps going 2 mph, the rear feels as though the bump stop is 1" off the axle and always hits it. I would like to know if this is normal, and if any of you 4Runner lovers have experienced this. If so how did you fix this problem. Lastly, is there a recall on the rear suspension? I hope i fix this problem with 4 shocks. These cars are bad a$$ and I want to be happy driving it instead of getting upset and hitting my head on the roof. lol. Thanks

I have looked underneath there before, and i'm pretty sure the bump stop is on the axle, and there isnt one on the coil. But when they have done the recall did they remove the bump stop on the axle? Or do they just add one to the coil? Because it seems the bump stop is too close to the axle... Thanks

Its 10:17pm and my driveway is wet because it rained, and i'm running outside to check out my rear suspension, lol. But yea I did check, the bump stop is on the frame, and its real close to the axle, and nothing inside the coil. One last question if you dont mind, when I take it in and they replace all that, will they remove the bump stops it has on there now, or will they put shorter ones? Because these look like they are way too long thats why it keeps hitting the axle. Thanks

They won't remove the frame mounted bumpstop. IIRC, the newer coils are slightly stiffer, and the added bumpstop gives you a 1/2" lift essentially. You shouldn't bottom out afterwards. If you do, you might want to look into some 1" Performance Products Progressive Coils and Bilstein shocks all around. THAT would really make it ride nice.
