Another Speedometer question, please help
I know this subject has been brought up before, but I haven't seen this yet. My speedo in my 95 4Runner (4x4/auto) is acting up. It's doing all the common things to upset you. I pulled out the dash and attempted to lube the cable, but I couldn't get the cable out of the outer cable housing and the lube wouldn't go in the cable. I pulled like a mother trying to get it out and it wouldn't budge. Do you have to disconnect it from the tranny? or should this thing come out with ease?
Appartenly :pig: some mechanic replaced the cable last year before I bought the car and charged the previous owner 240 for it. I called the mech. and he said it is "speedo unit" itself and would be happy to charge me 100 bucks for it minus labor. I told the guy to get a life and he's not touching my 4runner. He probably didn't even fix it the first time.
Any help would be great. Thanks.

I had to lube my speedo wire last year. I ended up just taking the whole thing out; wasn't too difficult as I had the engine & trans out already. The cable just came right out, I probably had the trans end of it, that's why you can't get yours.
