another OME coil question
Hey guys, when doing the OME coil lift, Do you need anything else besides the coils???? I know some people have used spacers with them, but do you have to? PP only uses Coils I do believe
After further research, and checking into my monetary condition, I am FINALLY in the market for a lift... now If I could just get some damn lockers....

How much of a lift do you want? I put on the OME coils and got about 2 inches of extra clearance. It has make a drastic difference--so much so that I cranked my stock torsion bars as far as I could get them and the front end was still lower than the rear. I ended up getting some SAW torsion bars and was able to level the vehicle.

richeyma,
2 inches would be plenty! I just want a little bit of a lift, and was thinking ofdoing the PP lift, but if I can just use springs, I think the OME mediums are the cheapest route. Are you using Mediums, soft or HD's?

I'm in a 00 runner. I know they are the same prices, but I wanted mediums, because I want a slightly stiffer ride, without going the to extremes with HD's ( I live only 2 hours from home so I do a lot of highway driving)
BUT, if I only need the springs, they are a lot cheaper than a PP 1" lift.

INsr5runner,
Sorry for the delay in getting back to you. I've been offline all weekend.
To answer your questions:
1. I'm running the Medium Duty coils. I picked them up at 4x4connection for $62 each.
2. I also picked up a set of rear OME shocks from 4x4connection for $72 each and a set of OME front shocks for also $72 each. I also got an OME steering stabilizer for $56.
The install required no modifications. I spoke with Bill at 4x4Connection and told him what I'd be using my 4Runner for--moderate off-roading. He recommended the above setup.
Like I said, I needed to get some SAW torsion bars for the front to level the vechicle. I'm planning on putting on 32" x 11" tires and I won't have any problems with clearance or rubbing. I could probably go with 33's without any problems, but I don't want to have to deal with changing gear ratios.
Hope this answers your questions. Oh, and my 4runner is a 91.
