another Newbie with the same question

wondering if you guys kindly assist on my question:

2001 Tacoma Auto. Tranny, V6 . Quad Cab.

I'm planning to have a 6 inch Fabtech Kit so that I can

use a 33x12.50 size MTR / wrangler with a 15x10 wheel.

I'll be running the stock gear set for now.

QUESTION: how bad would the performance hit be , would my ride be dangerously sluggish on the highway ??

Primarily use the Vehicle for work at a lumber yard, and I have to
go through a lot of Mud.

I have a 1992 V6 Toyota that is still running on Stock gear set, and it seems to run okay on the HIGHWAY, and okay on minor Off Road Mud trails.

response is greatly appreciated ..

What is your stock ratio? I assume 4.10, but I thought I would ask.

Yes, 33's will slow it down noticably, not to mention the increased wind resistance at freeway speeds caused by the 6 inch lift.

I am a leadfoot, so I would have to re-gear in your case.

From all the other posts I've seen lately with that Auto Tranny you're going to experience a substantial power loss. Espescially with it sitting 6 inches higher up in the wind. I wouldn't say dangerously sluggish but say goodby to just zipping up any inclines. And forget passing trucks on a hill too. You'll probably be rather frustrated until you do a re-gear. But it definately will look very cool.

Thanks dude.. I'm not familiar with the Gear Set ratio of this truck, all I know its the factory gear set that comes with 2001 Tacoma V6 Auto Quad Cab.

I may try to do a : 31x12.50 SSRs then, with the 6 inch lift , it might look weird for a while untill I get a Gear set upgrade ..

thanks

No problem. I hope it all works out for you. Assuming you have the TRD locker, you should save up for a locker in the front when you do the re-gear.

You also might want to consider poking around here a bit more. There is a ton of knowledge, and you just might change your order of events after doing some research.

Post some pics of your progress.
