Anatomy of a 3rd gen mirror - possible heated mirror retrofit

I found a damaged heated mirror off a 99 that I cut up and took apart. To open up your mirror you just center it left to right, and then aim it all the way up. Then, insert a flat head screwdriver in the slot show by the green arrow. I'm not sure if it's possible, but could somebody check to see if you can buy just the mirror, not the whole housing and such from the dealer? Cause if you can, all it will take is running a power and ground into the mirror and adding a switch and shazaam you have heated mirrors on 98 and older runner.

Yes you can buy just the glass, I've looked into adding heated mirrors to mine, just never got around to it.

The part numbers are

1999 - right - 87917-35830
- left - 87947-35740

2000/01 - right - 87931-3D020
- left - 87961-35821

Awesome for the part numbers, but I'm also wondering the difference between the years you posted?

I don't know what the difference is, I didn't get any further than the part numbers. I was planning on trying to swap my mirrors before this winter but now the weather is getting better here I probably won't be looking at this until Sept/Oct.
