Amsoil Dual Oil Filtration System

Anyone running the Amsoil Dual Oil Filtration System? If so, where did you all mount the system? What year 4Runner do you all have the system mounted to? Any pics?

i checked his website, but couldn't find anything about oil filtration. the only thing i saw was about fuel delivery, unless i wasn't looking at the right spot.

The 2-filter set-up is nice, but it's pretty pricey. Is the $300 it costs just to get the parts really worth saving a couple oil changes for the life of the vehicle? According to the "cleaning" abilities of this set-up, if you use their high grade synthetic, you'd almost never have to change your oil. Wouldn't you be better off starting with an engine flush, using Series 2000 oil, Amsoil filters, and changing at least once or twice a year? The cost is still less than that rig over a period of two-three years, and you've got new oil in your engine more often.

Anybody have the oil filter relocation kit? I'm trying to decide on the best place to put mine.

I don't have anything on my site about the AMSOIL remote filter mount, sorry.

I installed the AMSOIL combination full flow-bypass remote filter mount on my 96 4Runner. It was really tough to install the thing as there is so little room to work with. I ended up installing it on the frame under the driver's seat.

This did work out pretty well and it added 3 quarts to sump capacity of 6 for a total of 9 quarts in the system. This system really keeps the oil SUPER clean. I showed my dipstick to a friend and asked him if he could tell me how long the oil has been in the truck. He said it looked like I had just changed it. When I told him it had been in the truck for a year and had over 18,000 miles on it he just about called me a liar.

I really like this system, but I had recently removed it. I have converted my 96 over to a trail truck and was a bit worried about having the oil filters installed where they can catch some trail damage. I removed the mount and went back to the AMSOIL SDF-34 oil filter at the stock location. I do want to reinstall the mount, but I think it will take some fabrication of a custom bracket and I hope to get to it someday...

I wish you luck in finding a good place to install it and would love to see what you come up with. The only advise I have for you is to try not to install it higher then the location of the stock filter location on the engine block. If you install it higher then the location of the stock filter the oil in the hoses could drain back to the pan when the engine is off and on a restart the oil pump would have to refill the hoses before the engine gets oil. That is not a good thing.

Let me know what you come up with.

Gadget,

It's kinda tough to see in the pic, but do you have block/plate hanging on the frame by a metal strap?

What was your oil change interval with the bypass filter? What do you do now without it?

Thanks,
Ryd

I used the mounting bracket that comes with the filter mount and welded that to the frame. That is what the filter mount bolts to.

That strap thing is "just in case" and it is one of those large wire ties that are used to hold those large phone cables to the support wires. Super strong.

I am back to changing oil every six months now no matter how many miles I have on the truck.

The best place I found on my rig was on the frame under the drivers seat just like Gadget had his. I love mine, but like Gadget i am worried about damage to it while on a trail. Once i get this damn digital camera working again I will post some pics.
