alternator help!!??
Hey all-
So I bought a new high output alternator from Tom @ Mr. Alternator.com for my 03' V-8 4Runner. He told me it was a direct replacement, but upon removing the stock unit...it appears otherwise. The alternator fits correctly and connects as its supposed to with one of the wires running to it, but the main power connection square shaped plug with a four pronged end doesn't. The stock alternator uses the square plug, and the high output uses an oval plug. The oval plug has prongs for 3 wires to connect to it, and the factory square plug has three wires running to it with the fourth hole plugged with a piece of rubber. The 3 wires running to the stock square plug are grey, yellow/red, and white. So, I'm trying to determine if I can buy an oval plug to connect the stock wires into to adapt to fit the new alternator, or what the answer is?? Does anyone know what each wire is?? I know this may sound very confusing, but it is actually very simple if you have ever worked on or replace your alternator. Any and all help would be much appreciated. I'm planning on calling Tom about it in the morning. Thanks again.

Isn't it possible to just return the alternator? I understand that they have great customer service, and wouldn't give you any issues being that you didn't install it yet.
