I was serching for something diffrent to cool me off this summer. Well I came across this sitewww.autocoolrefrigerants.com ,they claim it is compatable with R12 or r134 a refrigerants and cools better than both. Here in the desert this would be a very welcome alternative to 134a( witch I am using now but I am ready to try something diffrent) in Runners that designed to use R12. What do you guys and gals think.

Thanks

Greg

i have converted many cars that originally used r12 to the r134 . it works just fine. but if your old r12 system still works, keep that. if it doesnt, at all, then you need to find the culprit for the leak, fix it , then convert to 134..

I use 134a right now. system works as well as it can hear in the dessert. The only problem I have with it is the fact when you are sitting in traffic when its 120 degrees it does not work well at all. I know that its due to high head pressure from lack of air flow over the condeser. I have seen it as high as 425 psi sitting still with gauges on in the driveway. normally with air flow it will run 275 to 325 depnding on the day. I have had the system checked a couple of times and every thing is normal. I do have a small leak, I lose about a1/2 can every three years. I was just tring to see what you guys thougt about this. Some other alternative to 134a.

R 12 will cool quicker and better than 134a, but it is bad for the enviroment. That is why it costs so damn much. They have made a drop in for R12 systems.

As far as 120 deg. and it not cooling well, an AC unit will only cool so much. On a vehicle with such a small system, 20 to 25 lower than the outside temp is all you will get.
