Alt upgrade and possible relocation

Any one out there retro fitted a larger alternator to work on 1st gen. Runners??. And has anybody relocated the alternator. (would like to get the alt. a little higher to avoid water logging it everytime we go wheelin) Thx.. Mark

Do a search here as well as over on Pirate. I believe I remember reading about one guy who replaced his smog pump with a GM alternator. I don't know about higher up though.
