I've been a diehard user of Mobil1 in every vehicle up to this point but my Tacoma is coming near its first oil change(that ill be responsible for) and within 20K miles I'll have rear end fluid and auto tranny fluid due. Ive been reading alot over the past year about tests where Amsoil pretty much blows away the competition. I was wondering:

1) Do you use everything Amsoil(gear lube, tranny, and oil)

2) Is the series 2000 0w-30 ok for the tacoma 3.4 or should I go 5w-30

3) If I go the toyota recommended 5k miles on oil is a standard good filter ok like a pure one or should I go with Amsoil there too

4) Where is the best placeto get Amsoil stuff at?

If you are going to switch to Amsoil, go to Amsoil.com or go through Gadget's site and become a prefered customer. $10 for six months or $20 for a year, that get's the product for dealer's cost. If you spend $100 a year (not hard for me with 3 cars) it's well worth the investment.

I use the 5w-30 but gadget uses the 0W-30 which is a bit more expensive but he changes that every 6 months.

As for the filters, I go with the Amsoil and there is a larger filter that fits the 3.4, snug fit, but more surface area.

1) I use the Series 2000 75W-90W for the diffs and 5W-30W High-Performance for the motor (I don't want to void the warranty using 0W-30)

2) It's ok. I don't because of the warranty. The only difference from the Series 2000 and the High-Performance is the Series 2000 is good for 35,000 and the High-Performance is 25,000.

3) I use the Toyota OEM and change it every 6 months.

4) Go to the Amsoil web site and pay the $10 for the preferred customer discount which is the same as a dealers cost. I just got all the fluids for my truck and saved $30.

3. The AMSOIL oil filters are proven time and time again as being the best oil filter you can buy. Why would you want to use something that you know is less of a filter? You could of bought a Ford Ranger, but you bought a Toyota, so why would you not use the same line of thinking for the oil filter?

4. Perferred customer, and order direct, or become a dealer yourself and put up a website like me and then deduct your oil changes as a business expense....

gonna order the stuff for the truck and car after I get my info back for the discount. I know there is all the up to this and recommended that for intervals, since this will be my first round of Amsoil oil and filters, is there anyway beside analysis to determine when the oil should be changed?
