Airbag
My 1998 is already 13 years old and was wondering if it is necessary to have the dealership inspect the airbags? The label under the front visor says it has to be inspected every 2 years after the vehicle pasts 10 years. I'm just concerned that it may explode in front of my face while driving along the highway because of the age.

i googled it and came up with this page, but i dont think u should have to have it looked at unless your airbag light comes on srs system light.

I can't imagine what there is to inspect...you can't open up them up and look at them. Plus if there's a problem with the system the SRS light will come on. This just sounds like a ploy to get you to come into the dealer...

When I hit ten years, I researched this and found the ten-year inspection protocol. I can't find it now, but all it said was check the light, check for codes with Toyota tool (redundant if no light), verify that there is no physical displacement of the covers on steering and dash, and that was pretty much it. So I did that and called it good.
